ESG & Climate Resilience
Environmental, social and governance performance, climate adaptation and resilience, and lower-carbon development — treated as project-readiness requirements rather than later compliance exercises.
Core commitments
Environmental stewardship and biodiversity protection
Community partnership and meaningful engagement
Health, safety and wellbeing
Ethical governance, transparency and compliance
Responsible sourcing and traceability
Local content, skills and enterprise development
Climate resilience and resource efficiency
Progressive rehabilitation and closure planning
Climate Adaptation and Resilience
Mineral projects face growing exposure to extreme rainfall, heat, drought, water stress, erosion, infrastructure disruption and community livelihood pressures. CMG promotes early climate-risk screening, resilient project and infrastructure planning, responsible water management, emergency preparedness, ecosystem protection and community-informed adaptation measures appropriate to each project stage.
Lower-carbon and resource-efficient development
Where technically and economically appropriate, CMG supports consideration of renewable power, energy-efficient equipment, lower-emission logistics, water recycling, waste reduction, progressive rehabilitation and responsible processing technologies.
National & global alignment
Aligned with national priorities and international practice
CMG aligns with Uganda’s National Development Plan IV, the Mining and Minerals Act, 2022, national priorities for industrialisation and local value addition, and internationally recognised ESG, safety and responsible-sourcing practices.
